Episode 11: The British Invasion

Season 2 - 4 Comments » - Posted on December, 16 at 8:17 pm

I expected Doakes to die in this episode, but not really at the very beginning. However, you knew this was going to happen since he knew Dexter’s secret, so it wasn’t a big surprise.

For a moment I thought that Dexter had changed his mind about Lila and was going to run off with her, but it only took me a moment to decide that he was just working her. And then she steals his tools when Deb shows up at her apartment to see if she left town.

I knew that Lila was gonna kidnap the kids, this was shown in the preview last week. And I remember something about fire also. So once that was all wrapped up, Lila gets on a plane to Paris.

I wonder what Dexter did with the body after he wrapped it up in the body-bag in Paris.

Next Season:
My wife and I are gonna order the books and read them during the next 9 months. And she hasn’t seen the first season, we are gonna watch that also. I got her into watching the 2nd season during this year and she really liked it

Episode 10: There’s Something about Harry

Season 2 - 5 Comments » - Posted on December, 2 at 8:19 pm

Dexter and Doakes kinda have a talk-out where Doakes spills something about Harry and upon more investigation on Dexter’s part, he learns that Harry committed suicide. All this time I never remember hearing about how Harry died, it was something that I wondered about during last season, but I never heard it come up. In the very last scene of the show, after Doakes witnesses Dexter kill someone new, Dexter is reminded of when Harry saw one of Dexter’s murders and how Harry got sick over it. It was shortly after that, that Harry died. Dexter now believe that he is responsible for Harry killing himself, since he witnesses the brutality that Dexter was capable of in reality, rather than just in theory.

I think that the idea of Dexter drugging Doakes and rubbing his fingerprints on those knives and that cleaver was genius. I can’t wait to see what happens when they find those tools in the ocean.

Lila takes a date-drug in an effort to frame Batista, all in an effort to get back at Dexter. I guess that she is going to try and blackmail Dexter into coming back to her, or she will press charges against Batista. I am betting that Lila is biting off more than she can chew by messing with Dexter and that she will soon end up dead.

I still don’t think Deb and Lundy will last very long, even with the talk in this episode about “what happens after this case ends”.

Next Week:
It shows scenes from what it describes as the “last 2 episodes” and it shows Doakes escaping the cabin. It also shows Lila in the hospital and accusing Batista of date rape.

Episode 9: Resistance is Futile

Season 2 - 5 Comments » - Posted on November, 25 at 8:09 pm

Nice Borg rip….

Lundy and Deb sleep together and then she tells everyone towards the end of the episode. At first, I thought that Lundy might be using Deb to get at Dexter, but this episode proved otherwise.

Lila tries to hook-up with Batista and it looks like this is going to be a bad situation for Dexter. I still think that Dexter will end up having to kill Lila… not because she is evil or anything, but just to shut her up since she won’t take the hint to stay away. I am not a serial killer myself, but I think that even I would have killed her by now. ;)

Dexter and Rita are starting to get back together.

It was intense to see Dexter be picked up, escorted by 4 feds to the station, sat down in front of the Captain and Lundy and shown his own trophy case of blood-slides. It was obvious that they got the slides from Doakes, after last week episode, but I thought that maybe Doakes mailed the slides to them with an explanation of where he got them. I didn’t expect that they suspected Doakes and had searched his car. But still, that was an intense scene there.

Doakes finds Dexter at Jimenez’s cabin out in the woods and discovers the real truth. Then Dexter gets in a fight with him, puts him in a sleeper hold and locks him in a cage inside the cabin. That was both a spooky and a sucky place to end the episode ;)

Next Week:
Dexter has Doakes locked in the cabin and they lead the viewer to believe that Dexter will kill him towards the end of the episode. We’ll see. It may just be editing to get us to watch, but I will watch anyway, can’t wait to see what happens!
Lila and Batista hook up and she drugs him or something, probably in some scheme to get at Dexter.

Episode 8: Morning Comes

Season 2 - 5 Comments » - Posted on November, 18 at 8:07 pm

Dexter, Lila and Deb are all living together and Lila and Deb can’t stand each other. Deb is actually a good judge of character, it seems.

Deb and Lundy have their official “first date” where Lundy cooks for her. I still don’t really see this going anywhere, in fact I can see Lundy pissing off everyone in the department, especially Deb, and that will end it. Just a hunch.

Dexter suspects that Lila started the fire in her apartment herself, and later on she steals Dexter’s key to Rita’s apartment, after she called the guy who killed his mother and told him where Dexter was. So basically Lila messed up about 3 different ways this week. And Dexter is realizing that Lila is both dangerous and a psycho, but not the good kind of psycho like he is, she is just plain paranoid and nuts. And the ending part where Dexter tells her to stay away from him or she will “see the monster” is the best. I figure she will cross the line before the season is out and then end up in the bottom of the ocean.

Finally Dexter kills the man who killed his mother and he hacks him up with a chain saw. Fitting.

Cliffhanger:
Doakes finds Dexter’s blood collection inside of the window A/C unit in Dexter’s apartment. My prediction is that somehow, with Doake’s suspension, Dexter will frame him as the Bay Harbor Butcher. It is going to be interesting to see what happens with that next week.

Episode 7: That Night, A Forest Grew

Season 2 - 5 Comments » - Posted on November, 11 at 8:25 pm

Lila is playing Dexter, the fire at the end proves that. And once he finally finds out, if he doesn’t kill her, he will dump her and she will be gone. Her days are numbered.

Rita finally stands up to her mother and tells her to get out. It’s about time. She was just weird.

The way Dexter setup Doakes was sweet. He played him quite well, using Doakes’ temper against him. And now Doakes looks like a psycho. I am betting he will keep following Dexter around, trying to find something on him and expose him somehow. This fight isn’t over, but it will be sweet to see where it goes.

Hopefully Dexter and Rita will make-up soon and this whole turmoil will be over. We only have 5 more episodes this season, so if will be fun to see what happens.

Episode 6: Dex, Lies and Videotape

Season 2 - No Comments » - Posted on November, 11 at 8:19 pm

Dexter and Rita break-up after Dexter sleeps with Lila.  That isn’t going to last, IMO.

Dexter erases the video tape of him using a blue-light to check for blood on his boat, that the cops setup at the marina.  Pulling a fire-alarm to clear the building was a good idea.  He is becoming better at hiding himself from his co-workers.

Episode 5: The Dark Defender

Season 2 - 3 Comments » - Posted on November, 6 at 4:55 pm

Dexter finds one of the men who killed his mother and beats the crap out of him with a baseball bat.  But he doesn’t kill him.  I kinda figure that he will turn up again some time later on and Dexter will finish the job.

Rita’s mom tells Dexter to leave Rita, and Rita gets mad.  I wonder what would happen if the truth came out about Dexter, what Rita’s mom would say.

Dexter sees himself as a comic hero, saving his mother and killing the men who are trying to kill her.  I thought that was a cool twist on the show.  And I watched the first episode of The Dark Defender on www.sho.com

At the end of this episode, Dexter checks his boat for blood and fingerprints with a blue-light, but doesn’t realize that there is a camera watching him in the marina.  Good times…

Episode 4: See-Through

Season 2 - No Comments » - Posted on November, 5 at 9:19 pm

This was the weakest episode yet, in my opinion. Dexter gets help from his sponsor Lila and she is a little weird. She goes around stealing stuff for art. Kinda dumb.

Debra hooks up with some guy from her gym, but gets closer to Lindy at the same time.

Pascal loses position as squad lieutenant, and we find out that Maria was sleeping with her fiance. I didn’t see that one coming.

Dexter shows Lila the dead bodies in the freezer room at the police station, and she doesn’t freak out, which impresses him. He thinks that she might end up understanding him and who he is.

Dexter meets Rita’s mom. That was fun.

And finally he starts to act like Dexter when he sneaks into his workplace and breaks the a/c system to destroy all the evidence. But later he finds that the algae they are looking for is on rocks that have been sent to the Marine Biologist and not with the dead bodies at all. So that might turn up to be interesting later on in the season.

Episode 3: An Inconvenient Lie

Season 2 - No Comments » - Posted on November, 1 at 3:58 pm

So the Task Force is formed and Debra gets to be on in, searching for her brother the serial killer, but of course not knowing that it is Dexter she is searching for.

Dexter goes to group therapy for NA, but it isn’t drugs that he is addicted to.  He sure does open up about his inner demon at the end though… just like any other person trying to break an addiction.  And his hot-looking sponsor is now Rita’s nemesis.  Fun times.

And Debra is the one who discovers that all the bodies in the ocean belonged to “bad guys”.  That was a nice twist.

I think that the car salesman that Dexter killed was a greaseball, and a good choice for Dexter’s next victim.

I thought this episode was a good addition to the season.

Episode 2: Waiting to Exhale

Season 2 - No Comments » - Posted on October, 23 at 7:42 pm

This is the episode that coined the phrase ‘The Bay Harbor Butcher’.

Dexter starts therapy for his ‘addiction’ which Rita believes to be drugs, but of course isn’t.  Seems like he would get some help from the sessions, but it isn’t exactly the same.

The Ice Truck Killer returns for this episode,  but just in Dexter’s mind.  It was good to see him let go at the end of this episode.  For someone who claims to have no feelings,  Dexter seems care about his brother, his step-sister and Rita.  Why would he put up with Rita for so long if he didn’t care about her?
